And... ACTION! Coach Anna graduated from the University of California, San Diego and has been working with her local community ever since. From youth ages 2 -18 years to adults 19-80+ years old, her goal is to spread the joy of theater and the arts to everyone. With experience in stage theater, long-form & short-form improv, musicals, and dancing, she has joined Shining Stars Charleston! Coach Anna has performed in, choreographed, co-directed, and produced several shows including The Nutcracker, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Yertle Turtle, Workplace Drama and The Little Mermaid. She has performed and traveled internationally from San Francisco, to Japan, and the Maldives. She is also CPR & AED Certified.

MJ graduated from Belmont Abbey College with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. For the past 6 years, MJ has directed and coached for the HappyFeet Legends Soccer Program. MJ loves working with children because they make her laugh and are fun to be around. In ShiningStars, she finds it most rewarding to see the more reserved kids come out of their shells when participating in front of the class. With her passion for working with children and commitment to making a difference in our future generations, this job is a perfect fit for her. She is great at inspiring children to break out of their comfort zones in an atmosphere that builds confidence and inspires growth. 

Founder and Curriculum Content: Brittany Barney

Brittany Barney, while working on her Theatre degree at Kansas University and working with local preschools recognized a need for communication arts enrichment education.  Brittany was present and engaged with the Lawrence, Kansas early childhood education community and through discussion with preschool directors and owners worked to develop the ShiningStars program.  Upon graduation Brittany moved to Florida and introduced ShiningStars to the sunshine state!  Over the years ShiningStars has expanded to many locations spanning the entire United States.

Jackie graduated from Clemson University and is committed to instilling her students with confidence and appreciation of their own unique qualities. She has a passion for helping children stay connected to their emotions and encouraging them to believe in themselves through positive reinforcement and a loving and nurturing style of coaching.

Prior to ShiningStars Jackie worked with our sister program HappyFeet for 5 years and has over 20 years of experience coaching 2-20 year olds. She also coaches multiple soccer teams for Legends Soccer Club. ShiningStars is a perfect, holistic fit for encouraging kids to be brave, creative leaders for life!
